For my illustrated painting of one of my past weekly sketches I chose the barbarian, and for my median I used photoshop. Overall I had a blast doing this piece, though the one thing I really had wished I had done differently was to have been able to integrate my face into the painting. But unfortunately ran out of time to complete my idea.

Weekly sketch painting
For my illustrated painting of one of my past weekly sketches I chose the barbarian, and for my median I used photoshop. Overall I had a blast doing this piece, though the one thing I really had wished I had done differently was to have been able to integrate my face into the painting. But unfortunately ran out of time to complete my idea.
Book cover final
After taking the painting into photoshop and adding the title here is the completed book cover. The type was kept simple to keep the focus on the illustration but still have a very solid feel to it and worked well with the rest of the piece.

I then went into the painting phase. From here you can see the finished painting before it was taken into photoshop. Being only my fifth painting I was very happy with how it turned out and can see the improvements especially as far as the figure goes.
Book cover comp
From the sketch I went into photoshop and built a photo reference to work from. I found the photo reference to be extremely helpful in brining my painting to a higher level.

For my book cover I had decided to do Robinson Crusoe. After going through all my thumb nails I decided on this because I was very happy with the composition of the piece.
